Researchers

Marta Zarantonello

Marta is an MSc Research student since September 2024. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Architecture, University of Glasgow. Currently, Marta’s research interests lie in the risk assessment of complex networks, with an emphasis on rail network and climate change.

Graham Thompson

Graham is a Postgraduate Research student since February 2025 at the Division of Infrastructure & Environment, the University of Glasgow, where he also completed his integrated master’s degree. With Dr Roisin Buckley as first supervisor and Dr Ji-Eun Byun as second supervisor, his current research focusses on modelling pile driveability using large-scale installation data and machine learning, to improve predictive methods for foundation installation under variable ground conditions.

Visiting researchers

Xiao Zhang

Collaborators

Xiao Zhang is a PhD student at Tongji University, with research interests in seismic resilience of bridge structures and regional transportation network resilience. In 2025, he is visiting the University of Glasgow for collaboration on transport network reliablity, supported by the China Scholarship Council (CSC).

External researchers

Uichan Seok

Collaborators

Uichan is a graduate student on the integrated M.S./Ph.D. program as a member of the structural and system reliability group (SSRG), Civil and Environmental Engineering at Seoul National University, where he also earned his bachelor's degree. Uichan's current research focuses on regional-scale disaster risk assessment and reliability-based optimisation.

Minji Kang

Collaborators

Minji is an MSc Research student since March 2024. She completed her bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering at Kyung Hee University. Currently, Minji is a member of the Structural and System Reliability Group (SSRG), Civil and Environmental Engineering at Seoul National University. Her research interests include reliability assessment and optimisation of complex infrastructure networks, with a particular emphasis on transport networks and their resilience to cascading disruptions. With the DUCO team, she collaborates on real-time rerouting in response to rail incidents.
